Imphal, March 04:
In a bizarre and fortunate turn of twist for the parents, a male child delivered at RIMS, which was thought to have died sprang to live when taken back home and while the necessary rites were being readied last night at about 10.30.After the infant displayed that he was full of life, he was brought back to RIMS for further medical care and to be near his mother, who was still recuperating at the hospital.
Information received at the press said that a 30 year old woman identified as Begum Abeda alias Ibemton wife of Md Kayamuddin of Yairipok Tulihal was brought to RIMS for a delivery case yesterday at about 12.30 pm and she was subsequently admitted to the Gynaecology Ward.
This was the second delivery case for the woman.
The child was delivered yesterday at about 10.30 pm inside the ward.
The baby was found with a defect on the head and at about 12.30 pm, one nurse came and the elder sister of the mother that child had passed away, said the source.
Following this Abeda was kept at the hospital and the supposedly dead child was taken home wrapped in a cloth at about 2.20 pm, said sources.
After the 'body of the infant' was brought to the house, it was kept at the verandah of the house and the brother-in-law of Abeda stayed over night at the verandah to guard the 'baby's body'.
To the joy of the family members, the supposedly dead baby started coughing at around 5 am today, prompting the brother-in-law to alert the family members.
On rushing to the verandah, the family members picked up the baby and after taking care of the immediate needs, rushed the baby to RIMS hospital today at 5.30 am.
Despite the happy turn around, family members were still skeptical whether the child would survive or not as the damage on the head was substantive.
