Imphal, December 03 2021: An Outreach Programme was held today at Kuilong-I, Tamei sub-division, Ta-menglong district with Chief Minister N Biren Singh gracing the programme as chief guest.

The Outreach Programme which was aimed at providing welfare services to the people's doorstep was organised by the district administration, Tamenglong.

Speaking at the occasion, N Biren stated that bringing infrastructure development in the interior parts of the State as par with the valley region would foster good relations and respect among different communities.

He continued that the current Government, since its formation, had always aimed for overall development of the State.

As such, many development projects had been taken up, including setting up of a police station at Behiang, security barracks at Tungjoy and Dzuko Valley and construction of an entry gate at Jiribam among others, to safeguard the boundaries of the State, he added.

The Chief Minister further mentioned that Tamenglong which was one of the least developed districts had now witnessed development in certain sectors.

He assured that the State Government would send a proposal to the Centre for upgrading the road from Kangpokpi to Tamei and Tamei to Kuilong so that connectivity of Kuilong to other parts of the State gets improved.

Appreciating 21 villages of Tamenglong district for preserving the forest areas and its vegetation, the Chief Minister also announced that one ground would be developed in each village as an incentive under Chief Minister's Green Manipur Mission.

Responding to a memorandum submitted by diffe- rent organisations, the Chief minister assured that Office of the Sub Deputy Collector at Kuilong will be made functional soon and would be upgraded to Office of the Sub-Divisional Officer if necessary.

He informed that building construction for the Primary Health Sub-Centre would be completed soon and a wellness centre would also be made functional in addition.

He stated that a proposal for setting up of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya at Kuilong had been sent and also added that the Government would try to set up a 33/11 KV Sub-station at Kuilong.

He also assured that he would take up all other necessary measures for deve- lopment of the district.

Informing about various welfare schemes of the Government, Biren asked the people of Kuilong to avail the benefits of the schemes as certain Government departments had set up stalls to provide services during the outreach programme.

Addressing the gathering, Forest and Environment Minister Awangbow Newmai appreciated Chief Minister N Biren Singh for his vision and concern for all the people of the State.

He continued that the State Government under the Chief Minister's supervision had taken up various policies to bridge the developmental gap between the hills and the valley.

He further stated that the State's law and order had considerably improved as the Government ensured inclusive development and outreach of governance at the grassroots level.

Education Minister Sorokhaibam Rajen, Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha Leishemba Sanajaoba, Caretaker Chairman, Autonomous District Council, Tamenglong Namsinrei Panmei, Additional Chief Secretary V Vumlunmang, Secretary to Chief Minister Ningthoujam Geoffrey, senior journalist Pradip Phanjoubam and other Government officials attended the programme, among others.

Distribution of assistance under various schemes to the beneficiaries was the main highlight of the outreach programme.
