Bodies decry attack on Silent village
Source: The Sangai Express

Imphal / KANGGUI, May 03, 2013: Condemning the attack at Silent village, the United Committee Manipur has urged all concerned not to communalise the issue.

All Club, Organisation, Association and Meira Paibi-Lup (ACOAM-Lup) has also condemned the attack.

A team of ACOAM-Lup led by its president and secretary went to the village and shared their grief, informed a statement.

It also appealed the Govt to bring an amicable solution to the impasse.

Meanwhile, the Kuki Inpi, Sadar Hills and Kuki Students' Organization, Sadar Hills strongly comdemned the attack on Silent village, in Sadar Hills during which 36 houses out of 66 were burned down by the attackers from the neighbouring Seijang village today.

Publicity secretaries of Kuki Inpi Sadar Hills Ngamlen Haokip and KSO-SH Goupu Hmar speaking to mediapersons at Kangpokpi termed the attack and subsequent burning down of 36 Silent village houses by Seijang and its surrounding villagers as very much uncivilised and highly condemnable as such unruly acts pose threat to peace and tranquility in the State.

The two further added that such acts of violence will not be tolerated and appealed to all individuals, particularly Seijang villagers to refrain from inimical attitude towards Silent villagers.

The two Kuki bodies also appealed to the state government to intervene at the earliest possible and take best suitable measures to ensure safety of Silent villagers.

They also appealed to the government for immediate relief measures to the affected villagers and deploy security forces for the security of the Silent villagers.

They also cautioned the government that if such inhuman act recurs the govt will be held responsible.

In the meantime, the two organizations also condemned the bomb attack at the residence of IFC Minister Ngamthang Haokip, the only Minister from Sadar Hills in Ibobi led SPF Government.

They appealed to all organizations not to commit such act in the future.

Saikul Area Naga people's Organisation (SANPO) has vehemently condemned the burning down houses and demolition of properties of Silent villagers by people of Saijang.

Expressing that any misunderstanding and dispute can be solved through mutual talk and adjustment, a SANPO statement issued by its publicity secretary described behaviour of Saichang people as condemnable especially at this juncture wherein Manipur is passing through a vulnerable situation.

Appealing to all concerned to shun violence and opt for amicable solution through mutual talks, SANPO also urged the Government to look into the matter and initiate immediate action for the safety of the villagers.

The Organisation also asked the Government to extend maximum assistance to the victims.
