Drugs worth Rs 61 lakh seized

As part of its anti-narcotic drive, the Pambei led United National Liberation Front (UNLF) seized narcotic drugs worth around Rs 61 lakh in the international market on May 31 .
The outfit, in a statement signed by its media coordinator Charairongba Thokchom, said that the seized narcotic drugs included brown sugar (1 kg) and heroin (40 cases and 75 vials) and all of it have been disposed of today.
Saying that the drugs were seized from Hatta Bazar by a special team of the outfit during a raid, the Pambei led UNLF continued that the driver who brought the drugs has been identified as Moinam Umar, s/o Late M Ali of Keibung Makha Leikai while the one providing courier service is one Chetsabam Sahidur (39), s/o Ch Burhan of Irong Umang.

It has been learnt from Sahidur that the drugs belonged to one Chetsabam Juma Khan (40), s/o Ch Mantri of Irong Mathak Leikai, the Pambei led UNLF said and asked Ch Juma Khan to appear before the outfit within five days.
Sahidur was to take the drugs to Guwahati and his charges for the transportation was Rs 40,000, the outfit added.
Saying that the seized drugs were handed over to the volunteers of Langol Apunba Meirapaibi Lup, Universal Mothers' Organisation and World Meitei Organisation for disposal, the outfit maintained that the seized drugs were destroyed in front of the people.
The outfit will continue its anti-drugs drive, the Pambei led UNLF said and sought support from the people.
