Imphal, May 02 2010: Two large teams of Manipur Police have set up barricades at Mao gate in Senapati district and Jessami in Ukhrul district to prevent NSCN-IM leader Th Muivah from crossing into Manipur's territory.

A high level source of Manipur Police said that in order to block Muivah's scheduled visit to Manipur, large teams of police have been posted at Mao gate at the Manipur-Nagaland border in Senapati district and Jessami in Ukhrul district.

Police teams led by IG (L&O-III), V Zathang, SSP Imphal West district, L Kailun and Senapati district SP, Nishitkumar Ujwal have reached Mao this evening.

Another large force of police has also reached Jessami in the Nagaland-Manipur border this evening.

The team of Jessami is led by Commanding Officer (CO) of 6th IRB, Laxmi Prasad, SP Ukhrul district Suresh and SP Imphal East district Th Radheshyam.

The police teams in both places comprise large number of police commandos.

Our senior staff reporter, Bijoy Laishram, camping at Mao gate at present, reported that Manipur Police personnel have started manning the Mao gate very carefully from this evening.

The Manipur Police commandos are deployed at the gate.

The commando personnel are also deployed at Tadubi junction from where a road leads to Ukhrul town.

Meanwhile, the police source said that if Muivah uses other tactics to forcibly enter Manipur border, the police would arrest him.

Even if he comes under the escort of Assam Rifles, the police would block him as the responsibility for law and order lies with the Government of Manipur.

The source said that since all the law enforcing agencies in India know about the Manipur Government's decision to ban Muivah from coming to Manipur, it is believed that he may not come at all.

On the other hand, various Naga organisations have started making preparations to receive the NSCN-IM leader at Senapati and Ukhrul.

An eye-catching huge stage has been erected at the Tangkhul Naga Long ground at Ukhrul for holding a public reception of Muivah.

The organisers expect that he would be arriving tomorrow.

No law of the land can stop him from coming to his birth-place.

Even the Government of India has given him permission to visit his native place, they said.

Another report says that a large number of people held an emergency public meeting at Senapati district headquarter around 8.30 pm today.

The people were called out from their homes by beating the electric posts.

The meeting was organised by Naga organisations in view of the State Government's decision to ban Muivah from coming to Manipur.

However, it is not yet known what decisions were taken at the meeting.
