Power being restored gradually : MSPDCL

The authority has started restoring power supply to consumers who face power outages due to the destruction caused by Cyclone Remal and the subsequent flood.
As per an official source from the Manipur State Power Distribution Company Limited (MSPDCL), there was a major hurdle in supplying power and restoring power supply at several places due to the flood and swelling of rivers which the State witnessed in the last few days.
Saying that the power outage was caused by inundation at several power sub- stations, the official added that the MSPDCL has started restoring power supply to the black-out consu- mers since yesterday.
He went on to state that the MSPDCL has restored power supply in some places where flood level has receded yesterday.

Continuing that they still are unable to restore power supply to consumers of 33/11 KV sub-station at Khu-man Lampak which got flooded, the official added that they, however, have started restoring power supply to consumers of Nilaku- thi sub-station gradually.
Power supply to consumers at Koirengei, Luwang- sangbam, Khabam Lamkhai, Mantripukhri, Achanbigei, Khabam etc which feed on Nilakuthi sub-station has been restored, he said and added that MSPDCL has also restored power supply to consumers at Khurai Lamlong areas which feed on Yaralpat sub-station.
Consumers at Noney, however, are still facing power outages as Yurem-bam-Noney 33/11 KV sub-station hasn't been repaired yet, the official said.
Further stating that Rengpang-Tamenglong 33 KV sub-station line also hasn't been repaired and as such consumers at Tamenglong are still not getting power supply, the official maintained that power supply to Ukhrul and Senapati have been restored.
There is no problem at Churachandpur, he continued.
Power supply to consumers at Sekmai also has been restored while those areas under Imphal Municipal Corporation have started getting power supply one after another, the official said and added that power supply which still got severely flooded are not restored as of yet.
MSPDCL has been working on war-footing to restore power supply to all consumers as and when the situation allows, the official said.
