Bishnupur, August 30 2024: A five-day vocational training programme on "Freshwater Pearl Culture" was conducted at the Training Hall of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Utlou in Bishnupur district today.

The training programme, which is set to conclude on August 31, was conducted under the 100 Days Action Plan of KVKs with the participation of 50 farmers.

Notable dignitaries present at the programme include Dr Kh Brajamani Singh, Head & Senior Scientist, KVK Bishnupur district; Dr Ajitkumar Ng, Associate Professor, School of Biological Sciences, Manipur International University; L Lenin, Research Fellow, Department of Biotechnology, Manipur International University and Kh Maipak Singh, SMS Plant Protection, KVK Bishnupur as presidium members.

On the occasion, the resource persons informed the 50 participating farmers about the materials required for freshwater pearl culture, how to select the oysters/mollusks and their farming, surgical procedure involved, precautions and so on .
