World Heart Day observed

Thoubal, September 29 2026: World Heart Day was observed at the community hall in Wangkhem Bazar in Thoubal district with an aim to raise awareness about heart diseases and its preventivemeasures.

The District Health Society organised the World Heart Day observation on the theme Don't Miss a Beat' with a free health camp and distribution of free medicines.

In the health camp, screening of various heart related issues were carried out apart from ECG, TB and blood sugar testing and required medicines were also provided for free.

Today's observation was graced by Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADM) Thoubal Aribam Amarjit Sharma; Chief Medical Officer CMO Thoubal and District Health Society Thoubal, District Mission Director Dr KC Luwang; District Nodal Officer (DNO) for the Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD) Thoubal Dr M Bikramjit and Cardiologist of District Hospital Thoubal Dr Lourembam Gayatri Devi as the presidium members.

Speaking as the chief guest, ADM Thoubal Aribam Amarjit Sharma emphasized on the significance of taking up timely measures to prevent heart complications.

Stressing on the importance of proactive prevention, he appealed to all to avail the medical facilities in nearby health centres for the well-being of oneself.

In connection with the observation, a friendly football match was played at BIR Singh Turf at Thoubal Kiyam Siphai between the Health Service staff and members of Youth Sporting Club, Kiyam Siphai.
