Voluntary blood donation camp conducted

A voluntary blood donation camp was held today at the office of Youth Voluntary Association, Wangjing SK Leikai in connection with the birth anniversary of S Nilam Chanu of Wangjing Keithel.
She is a life member of Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), Thoubal District Branch.
The voluntary blood donation camp was organised by Indian Red Cross Society Thoubal District Branch in association with Youth Voluntary Association (YVA), Wangjing and Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) Blood Centre under the aegis of State Blood Transfusion Council (SBTC), Manipur.
Altogether, 35 people donated their blood at today's camp.
Speaking in this connection, Soibam Mangijao, vice chairman of the Managing Committee of IRCS.
Thoubal District Branch, emphasized the importance of blood donation and encouraged all eligible persons to become donors.
Highlighting the precautions to be taken prior to donating blood, he said potential donors should get their five vital organs- heart, lungs, kidney, brain and liver checked.
Additionally, their haemoglobin levels should also be tested as people with low haemoglobin levels are not eligible to donate blood.
