Tamenglong, June 27 2026:
The Nallong Students' Union, Manipur, has strongly condemned the alleged killing and reported mutilation of six Naga individuals and demanded immediate and impartial action against those responsible.
In a press release, the union stated that the apology tendered by the concerned Kuki side was inadequate in view of the gravity of the incident.
It asserted that taking human lives on emotional grounds cannot be accepted as a justification under any circumstances.
The union said that no civilised society could function if violence and brutality were excused, adding that the incident has caused deep pain and anguish among the community.
The students' body demanded an immediate and impartial investigation to identify and bring all confirmed individuals involved in the incident to justice.
It further called for strict punishment under the law for those found guilty and stated that no compromise or negotiation should take place until the alleged perpetrators are arrested and legal action is taken.
The union also expressed concern over the alleged use of derogatory language against the Naga community, stating that such expressions are hurtful, divisive and detrimental to peaceful coexistence.
It urged that such terms should not be used against any community and called for a sincere apology.
Stating that the matter concerns the safety and security of future generations, the Nallong Students' Union said such acts of brutality must not go unpunished or be repeated.
It reaffirmed its commitment to justice, peace and the rule of law, while urging the authorities to act swiftly and impartially.
