Helen Adams Keller remembered on her 144th birth anniversary

Handicapped Development (HD) Foundation Manipur in collaboration with Bir Tikendrajit University and Disabled People's Right Organisation celebrated the 144th birth anniversary of Helen Adams Keller by organising an awareness programme on the theme, "The Role of Special Education on Inclusion Education" at the conference hall of Bir Tikendrajit University today.
It was attended by Centre For Skill Development Rehabilitation and Empowerment (CRCSRE), director, N Khoibi; HD Foundation Manipur, chairman, Dr Sapam Jasobanta; secretary Dr Laishram Bina; Bir Tikendrajit University, Director, Haobam Birbal and Resident Director.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Leishangthem Suresh said that Helen Keller was a remarkable author and educator who overcame deafness and blindness, and inspired the world with her resilience, advocacy for individuals with disabilities.
He continued that Helen Keller was most famous for her personal triumph over the limitations of both blindness and deafness.
As part of the programme, visually impaired students who had passed the Class X and XII examinations were also felicitated.
Meanwhile, the 144th birth anniversary of Helen Adams Keller was also observed today at Government Ideal Blind School, Takyel.
The observation was organised by Ideal Blind School Golden Jubilee Celebration Committee in collaboration with CRCSRE, Imphal.
It was attended by H Lolit Singh, Headmaster, Ideal Blind School; H Sanamacha Sharma, Assistant Headmaster, Ideal Blind School; H Kesho Singh, Senior Craft Teacher, Ideal Blind School and P Lenin from CRCSRE.
Distribution of T-shirts and track suits to students of Ideal Blind School and planting of tree saplings in the school campus were the main highlights of the event.
Similarly, the Relief Centre for the Welfare of Differently Abled Persons, Manipur also celebrated the 144th birth anniversary of Helen Adams Keller at Tera Wangthonbi Leikai today.
During the event, the Centre's founder M Saratkumar Singh and media advisor Nimol Ningombam led the participants in offering floral tribute to a photograph of Helen Adams Keller.
