Rhythms of Manipur's musical composition Kwakta Lamjel showcased

Imphal, November 26 2024: Rhythms of Manipur's latest new music composition for the year 2024-25 entitled Kwakta Lamjel premiered today at the Golden Jubilee Stage of Manipuri Jagoi Marup at Lamboi Khongnangkhong.

The premier was graced by Dr Wahengbam Ibomcha Singh, president, Spic Macay Manipur Chapter as the chief guest.

The new production is composed by Haobam Nisheshwor Singh involving a total of eleven artistes, including five female musicians.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Ibomcha expressed concerned over the plight of the artistes of Manipur adding that the State Government's support through CMAT is just nominal and cannot ensure artistic activities carry on in a proper way.

During this time of crisis, poor artistes are among the worst affected section, the chief guest added.

Meanwhile, in his welcome address, RK Sanatomba, secretary, Rhythms of Manipur, highlighted the activities and achievements of the group.

It may be noted here that Rhythms of Manipur was established in 1985 and has produced a number of music compositions, opera and plays.

Notably, the Journey and Dancing Drummers won Doordarshan National Awards in music category and were widely performed at home and abroad.
