KDBA organises legal awareness programme on Child Protection laws

Kakching, July 26 2025: The Kakching District Bar Association (KDBA) conducted a legal awareness programme today at H Keinahal Memorial English School, Langmeidong and Iramdam Maheikol, Langmeidong, focusing on key child protection laws, including the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012 and the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006.The awareness held at H Keinahal Memorial English School was attended by Kakching District Bar Association, president Advocate Nongmaithem Madhu Singh, Social Activist Dr Yengkhom Bhagyachandra, Founder of H Keinahal Memorial School, Dr Huidro Jiten and Headmaster, Yumnam Dineshwar as functional president.

During the programme, Advocate Naorem Jameson and Advocate Nongmaithem Kunjarani spoke as key resource persons, elaborating on the provisions of the POCSO Act and the Child Marriage Act.

The awareness held at Iramdam Maheikol, Langmeidong was attended by Kakching District Bar Association, president Nongmaithem Madhu Singh, vice-president Advocate Chongtham Manishwar, Social Activist Dr Yengkhom Bhagyachandra, School founder cum principal, Longjam Tikensana Meitei, and Assistant teacher, Thounaojam Anjali as presidium members.

During the programme, Advocate Nongmaithem Kunjarani and Advocate Naorem Jameson, spoke as key resource persons.

Later an interactive session with the students was held on the Child Protection laws.
