'Ibobi most corrupt CM in India' : MPP

Imphal, April 26 2011: The MPP has been angered by CM O Ibobi Singh's statement of having no political parties which could contest with the Congress.

It has retaliated by asking whether it means that leaders of other political parties could not carry out contract works like his ministers.

Vice president of MPP, Y Mangi who is currently looking after the charge of president said the kind of government led by Ibobi amassing wealth for its own has never been seen before.

Ministers and MLAs of the government have become richer by the day while the common people are at the limit of their woes.

Conversion of MLA local area development schemes into income earning centres for the MLAs have led to issuing work orders without cost estimates, withdrawal of funds in the IFCD and PWD inspite of actual ground work reality in the last nine years, is the achievement that Congress is boldly claiming, he said.

The state has become famous for corruption, Mangi alleged asserting that the clear evidence of this was the publication of a news item by the Hindustan Times on March 21 under the headline "Manipur CM is corrupt" based the finding of the WikiLeaks.

Based on the confidential cable released by WikiLeaks, Henry Jardine, Principal Officer, US Consulate General in Kolkata, reported rampant corruption had complicated efforts to control rising violence in the state, also mentioning that CM Okram Ibobi Singh was known as "Mr Ten Percent", for the amount of money that he takes from contracts and government projects, Mangi pointed out.

He also recalled a statement given by Rishang Keishing, who asked people to be beware of corrupt ministers and MLAs and not to vote for them again.

Mangi said, Rishang's statements further indicated the differences in the Congress leadership.

The alleged malpractices in the declaration of results for appointment of teachers, non-declaration of DPC results in various departments, issuance of OBC certificates to those not covered by the OBC category and burning down of YAS office with alleged irregularities in the promotion of employees, etc.

are only a few examples giving off the smell of corruption in the government.

The vice president supported the BJP national spokesperson Prakash Javedkar's demand for resignation of the CM alleging that a few of his council of ministers were extremists.

Y Mangi said the CM had tried to divert the attention of the people from this fact by alleging that the June 18, 2001 uprising had taken place when the BJP was at the helm of power in the Centre.

Mangi also said, the CM has been making many irresponsible speeches.

He said, while the Congress tops in spreading false propaganda, it still tries to malign other political parties to cover his misdeeds.

On many occasions, demands for stepping down of the SPF government had rocked the state.

People had even approached the Centre for ouster of the Ibobi government but he and his ministers have always bargained with Congress leaders at the Centre with money, he alleged.
