HTMPL threatens to shut down road stretch

The Heirangoithong Thongkha Meira Paibi Lup (HTMPL) has threatened to shut down the Heirangoithong to Manipur University road if repair work is not initiated within four days.
According to a press release issued by S Romabati Devi, secretary, HTMPL, the 170 m road stretch was greatly damaged by the movement of heavy vehicles and machinery related to the construction of Nambul River's retaining wall by Keystone Infra Pvt Ltd.
HTMPL, Keystone Infra Pvt Ltd manager and Langthabal AC MLA met over this issue twice where the manager assured to black top the road stretch.
However, the assurances have not materialized till date, said HTMPL.
Highlighting the poor condition of the road stretch, which has posed a health risk to the people, HTMPL has prohibited the movement of 4-wheelers, 3-wheelers, 8-wheelers and other vehicles if renovation is not initiated within four days.
