Imphal, June 25 2009: Nine underground activists were arrested by the Imphal East and Imphal West district police commando with the Assam Rifles from different places, according to police source.

According to separate statement issued by the districts' police, the Imphal East police and the 28AR have arrested two KYKL activists � Thokchom Bijoy @ Raju (38) son of Th Tomba of Wangoo Pungjao Makhong and Thongbam Joychandra @ Bhavi (38) son of Brajabihari of Kakwa Lamdaibung, from Kongba Bazar yesterday around 8.30am.The Imphal West district police commandos have arrested KYKL activists L Tokyo @ James (32) son of L Tomba of Lamlai Chalou, and Ningthoujam Dineshore @ Rocky @ Durgol (24) son of N Shyam of Lamlai Bazar, from Indira Park along with 3 live rounds of 9mm pistol, it stated.

KCP activists Laishram Oken (33) son of (L) Juge of Chairen Makha Leikai arrested from Khoyathong; and Binod Pradhan @ Binod (24) son of Rudraman of Iroisemba Samusang Mana Leikai arrested from Lamphel Sanakeithel; and Boinu Vaiphei @ Thoi (30) wife of Soubam Rajesh of Lamphel CP Quarters were arrested by the Imphal West police commando, the release stated.

Meanwhile, NSCN (K) cadres identified as Alison Kamei @ Adaho (32) and Naorem Suraj @ Kiran @ Raju @ Shyam (39) of Thangmeiband Yumnam Leikai were arrested by the Imphal East police commando on June 22 around 1.30 pm, from Langol Tarung area, it added.
