World TB Day observed at Wangbal

Thoubal, March 24 2026: As observed globally, the 45th World TB Day was also observed today at IRDEO Hall, Wangbal in Thoubal district, with a focus on raising awareness and strengthening efforts towards tuberculosis elimination.

The programme was jointly organised by the District Health Society, Thoubal and District TB Officer, Thoubal.

The event was attended by Deputy Commissioner of Thoubal, Yumnam Robita; District TB Officer, Dr Yumnam Shameen; CMO Thoubal Dr Y Nokul; NCD Cell Thoubal, District Nodal Officer, Dr M Bikramjit; and National TB Elimination Programme Thoubal Unit, District Coordinator, Th Stephee; among others as presidium members.

As part of the observance, ASHA workers who have played a crucial role in efforts to eliminate tuberculosis in the district were felicitated in recognition of their dedicated service.

A free TB screening camp was also conducted during the programme.

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Thoubal, Yumnam Robita stated that tuberculosis is now a treatable disease and urged the public to extend collective support in the fight against TB .

She emphasised the importance of community participation in achieving the goal of eliminating TB from the country.
