Kakching witnesses protest rally against inaction of State, Centre

Kakching, November 23 2024: People from different parts of Kakching district took out a rally from Lamjao Mayai Leikai Public ground raising slogans against the State and Central Government today.

The rally was jointly organised by the Khunai Kanba Meira Paibi Apunba Lup (KHUKAMPAL-II), Kakching District United Clubs' Organisation (KADUCO), Manipuri Students' Federation (MSF) Kakching District Committee and All Manipur Women's Voluntary Association (AMAWOVA) Unit, Kakching District.

The protesters passed through Hiyanglam Wabagai Lamkhai Keithel till they reached Keirak Keithel Lampak and returned to Hiyanglam Wabagai Lamkhai Keithel where the rally culminated.

Speaking by the sideline of the protest rally, Rajkumari Luxmi, secretary, Kakching district, KHUKAMPAL-II said that the rally was staged in opposition to both the State and Central Government's failure to apprehend and punish the suspected Kuki militants responsible various civilian killings including that of three women and three children at Jiribam.

During the protest rally, the protesters raised slogans such as "Killing of innocent women and children is an act of terrorism", "Stop terrorist acts", "Revoke Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) from Manipur", "Punish the killers" and "No compromise on territorial integrity of State" among others.
