Imphal, November 23 2020:
One 28 years old victim of a crime against women has demanded capital punishment for the person who not only defiled her but also allegedly attempted to kill her.
The victim Ibemma (not real name) was allegedly assaulted by her boyfriend with a stick and belt after calling her out for eloping.
She is now bedridden and has a fractured right hand.
Speaking to The Sangai Express, Ibemma stated that she started having love affairs with Chandam Rabichandra alias Ibomcha (23) of Uyumpok Awang Leikai since the last week.
Saying that Rabichandra called her repeatedly on November 19 to meet him, Ibemma continued that she went out to elope with Rabichandra at around 7 pm.
"After having intercourse with him twice that day, I requested him (Rabichandra) to find a place to spend the night," she said and added that Rabichandra, instead, responded that they will find a place only after his desire is fulfilled.
Alleging that Rabichandra started attacking her out of the blue with a belt and stick, she added that her right hand was fractured while trying to defend herself.
"Apart from threatening me not to shout with his gun, he even tried to strangulate me with his belt," she added.
"Assuming that I've succumbed to the injury, he left me in one courtyard, by covering me with his jacket," Ibemma alleged and added that she doesn't know much about what had happened afterwards as she was unconscious and woke up the next day at Patlou.
Ibemma then stated that she was picked up by her family members from Patlou.
Saying that Rabichandra deserves no mercy for the brutality he meted out to her, Ibemma urged the State Government and department concerned to award death penalty to the alleged offender at the earliest.
"If people like him are allowed to roam freely in the street, more cases of crime against women will take place," she cautioned.
Meanwhile, it is reported that the perpetrator (Rabichandra) had surrendered to Sagolmang Police Station on November 20 .
