Capacity building programme for farmers held

A capacity building programme on Seed Production, Horticultural Crop Production and Natural Farming cum Interaction Programme for the upcoming Rabi season was held today at the TAWSMUCOS CLF Office in Tengnoupal district.
The event, organised by the ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Chandel, in collaboration with Manipur State Rural Livelihoods Mission (MSRLM), Tengnoupal district, aimed to enhance farmers' technical knowledge, promote sustainable agricultural practices, and strengthen their capacity for improved livelihood opportunities.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from 40 village chiefs, farmers, and women farmers from villages including Aigejang, Chelep, Gangpijang, Phalbung, Khongkhang, Khudei Khullen, Khudei Laipham, Loikong, Sita, and Tengnoupal.
Speaking at the occasion, M Melthra Tarao, District Mission Manager of MSRLM Tengnoupal, urged farmers, especially women farmers, to stay aligned with modem agricultural technologies and continuously upgrade their knowledge for better farming practices and enhanced income generation.
Technical sessions were conducted by experts from ICAR-KVK, Chandel, including Leenda Monsang, Subject Matter Specialist (Plant Breeding), who trained farmers on seed production and the establishment of community seed banks.
Lavid Anal, Subject Matter Specialist (Horticulture) highlighted horticultural crop production for the Rabi season; while Dehkhohao Doungel, Technical Officer (Computer), stressed the importance of social media in agriculture and its role in information dissemination, market linkages, and farmer outreach.
The programme also included interactive sessions, providing farmers with a platform to exchange experiences, discuss innovation and eco-friendly farming practices for the upcoming Rabi season.
