Khongjom Day observed at various places

To honour the Khongjom War heroes who valiantly fought against the mighty British in the Anglo-Manipuri War 1891, All Manipur Kanba Ima Lup (AMKIL) observed Khongjom Day at its office premises in Keishampat today.
A large number of people including women vendors of Khwairamband Keithel offered floral tributes to honour the courageous Manipuri ancestors who laid down their lives for the freedom of Manipur.
Speaking on the occasion, AMKIL president Lourembam Nganbi recalled the valor, wit and determination of the Manipuri warriors at the battlefield in Khongjom as well as numerous other battle fronts.
She shared that a memorial ceremony was also held in Bishnupur yesterday to pay homage to the fallen heroes of Manipur who laid down their lives in the battle of Laimaton, Leimatak and Lamangdong during the Anglo Manipuri War of 1891."The present generation should remember the courage and spirit shown by the ancestors who valiantly fought against the British forces in the Anglo Manipuri War", said Nganbi while appealing to the people to follow the footsteps of the brave heroes and fight unitedly for the welfare of the State.
Similarly, the Writers' Platform Manipur (WRITPLAT) in collaboration with Jaideep Memorial Foundation also organised "Khongjom Day, World Book & Copyright Day, Talk Show & Book Release" programme at Manipur Press Club, Majorkhul.
The event was attended by dignitaries, including WRITPLAT Manipur's chief patron Dr RK Nayansana Devi, president Yumnam Kumar Singh, legal advisor Aribam Noutuneshwori Devi, patrons Loitam Inaobi and Irungbam Padmabati, and LEIKOL Manipur's president Ksh Subadani Devi.
As part of the event, two books namely "Lareinungdagi Langon Langdai" written by Dr KB Ingaremba and the Mainpuri edition of the book "Manipur of my Dream" translated by Nongmaithem Kirankumar Singh were also released.
Similarly, Observation Committee Langathabal Kendra also observed Khongjom Day at Langthabal Kunja Awang Leikai by paying floral tributes to brave sons of the State.
NPP executive member Karam Nabakishor was also present at the event.
Moreover, Aseilup and Progressive Writers' Association also observed "Athoubasingda Kathokchaba" at Irawat Bhawan, BT Road today to honour the fallen heroes of Anglo Manipuri War 1891 .
