Senapati Truck Owners & Drivers bid farewell to ex-Chief Secretary PK Singh at Mao

A brief farewell programme for exChief Secretary PK Singh was held today at Martyr's Park, Mao Gate, along the NH-2 Imphal-Dimapur road today.
The event was organised by the Senapati District Truck Owners' Association and the Senapati District Truck Drivers' Union, in the presence of DC Mamoni Doley, village leaders, and well-wishers.
PK Singh, who is now appointed as Secretary of the National Commission of Scheduled Tribes, Government of India, expressed his gratitude for the gesture and the warm send-off extended by the Mao community and associated organisations.
The former CS was received at zero point of Mao-Kedima-Chakhabama-Kohima alternative road, a route he had taken initiative to repair through the PWD since June.
In his short speech, PK Singh highlighted the urgent need for a permanent alternative route to the existing two lane NH-39, which often experiences heavy traffic congestion, especially en route to Kohima.
Singh also acknowledged steps taken by the Government of Manipur to improve the proposed alternative road, which served as the lifeline of Manipur State.
He further informed that efforts are underway to secure funding from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways to establish the alternative route as a permanent lifeline corridor for the region.
