DPUVO Nambol, Ibohal Memorial Trust honour meritorious students

The Development and Protection, United Voluntary Organisation (DPUVO), Nambol, organised its 14th annual meritorious award distribution ceremony at Nambol Keithel, honouring outstanding students from five constituencies under its jurisdiction for their achievements in the Higher Secondary and HSLC examinations.
The ceremony was attended by MLA of Nambol Assembly Constituency Th Basantakumar; retired Principal of L Sanoi College, Nambol and advisor of DPUVO, M Ibohal; Manipur Wetland Authority Technical Committee Chairman and DPUVO advisor Dr Kh Shamungou; and DPUVO Nambol president T Khaba Khuman as presidium members.
A total of 44 meritorious students were felicitated during the programme.
The awardees included 35 students who secured above 80 per cent marks in the HSLC examination and nine students who scored more than 75 per cent in the Higher Secondary examination.
The students were presented gifts in recognition of their academic achievements.
The organisation also felicitated journalists of Bishnupur district for their contribution in disseminating accurate and responsible news to the people of Manipur.
An interaction session between MLA Th Basantakumar and the students was also held during the programme, providing an opportunity for students to share their views and aspirations.
Meanwhile, the 19th Merit Award presentation ceremony instituted in memory of Thoudam Ibohal, former Principal of CI College, Bishnupur and former INC candidate in the 1990 and 1992 elections, was held at Ibudhou Sorarel Laibung, Toubul.
Organised by the Ojha Ibohal Memorial Trust, Toubul, the programme honoured meritorious students of Toubul Gram Panchayat who achieved outstanding marks in Class X and XII examinations conducted by BOSEM and COHSEM.
Three students each from Class X and Class XII were selected for the award and presented cash prizes and certificates in recognition of their academic excellence.
The ceremony began with floral tributes to the portrait of late Thoudam Ibohal.
It was attended by Toubul High School former Headmaster Koijam Tomba Singh as chief guest, Oinam Girls High School former Headmaster Thoudam Rachandra Singh as president, and CI College Bishnupur retired LDC Thoudam Jhaljit Singh as guest of honour.
