Imphal, January 21 2010: Talks with agitating employees of state government today failed.

With this employees have decided to intensify with the agitations.

The talk was held at the officer chamber of the state Chief Secretary, DS Poonia this afternoon.

In the talk, Chief Secretary was assisted by Principal Secretary (Finance), AN Jha, Commissioner Education and Secretary to CM PK Singh and PCI officials while General Secretary, Ch Chandramani of JAC of AMTUC and AMGEO and President of State Pensioner Union H Yaima and other secretaries JAC represented the striking employees.

In the talk that lased for about two hours, no consensus to any point could be arrived at but it was agreed to hold another round of talk at the Chief Minister level at the earliest, source said.

General Secretary, Chandramani speaking to reporters after coming out from the talk said that Chief Secretary insisted on the suspension of the ongoing cease-work strike assuring that he will put up the matter to the level of Chief Minister with regard to the talk.

His proposal of suspending the agitation before the talk at the Chief Minister level was rejected by the JAC and demanded immediate translation of their demands into action, he said adding that later Chief Secretary agreed to arrange a talk with the Chief Minister in later day which would be fixed after consultation with the Chief Minister.

If there is no amicable solution in the proposed talk, the employees will go on with their strike even if government threaten arrest and death by hanging, a statement of the JAC later informed, while re-affirming their stand on the demands put forward by them.

Meanwhile, the cease-work strike of the employees which commenced from January 16 last has entered the fifth day today.

Government offices continued to be paralyzed.

Mention may be made that striking employees had dismissed the order for adoption of new revised pay bands as per the recommendation of the 6th Pay Commission "notionally" from January 1, 2006 with cash payment from April 1, 2010 .

They had put down their clear-cut stand that until government fulfilled their 14-point charter of demands, among which is included payment of DA and TA effective from April 1, 2004, they will continue their agitation.

The striking employees alleged that only one point out of 14 demands was touched in the order issued by the government of January 16 last with regard to the adoption of the revised pay bands.

Meanwhile, Bishnupur branch of the JAC of AMTUC and AMGEO has announced solidarity with the cease work strike of the parent organisation and conducted drive at government offices located in the district.

Due to the cease work strike, the statement signed by its president M Bapu, claimed that offices of DC, treasury, transport, PWD, IFCD, IPR etc.

remained paralyzed.
