STATE GOVERNOR, Gurbachan Jagat who visited Bishnupur district today has advised the government employees of the district to work as instruments of the government for the effective implementation of policies and programmes of the government at Imphal and New Delhi.
The Governor, during his visit to the district headquarters, held a meeting with the Deputy Commissioner, the Superintendent of Police of the district and other district level officers and discussed the functioning of the various offices in the district at the conference hall of the Mini Secretariat, Bishnupur.
He also interacted with the local leaders of the district.
During the meeting, the officers of the district laid reports on various developmental works taken up in the district under state and Centre sponsored schemes.
After hearing the reports of the officers in respect of their departments, the Governor told them to consider the routine works of the officials particularly of those in the districts as very important to see that the policies and programmes of the government were implemented at the district level.
"You (district officers) are public servants, not the rulers, and you should be accessible to the people and let the people believe in you that you are doing something for the people," the Governor said while giving advice to the officers present at the meeting to act as instruments of the government in effective implementation of the policies and programmes.
While stating that Manipur is a very beautiful state having its own glorious and age-old cultural heritage, he said "but the state today is passing through a difficult phase.
It is the government servants who will bring about the progress and prosperity of Manipur," he said.
Later, after the meeting, the Governor also held interaction with the local leaders coming from different parts of the district, a communiqu� of the Raj Bhavan said.
