Theatre play "Nongban Soura" staged by MUC students

Imphal, August 18 2025: A theatre play titled 'Nongban Soura', performed by the BA and MA final semester students of the Theatre Department, Manipur University of Culture (MUC), was showcased today at Manipur Dramatic Union (MDU) hall.

The event was graced by Manipur University of Culture (MUC) Vice Chancellor Prof Paonam Gunindro as chief guest; and MUC Examination Coordinator Laimayum Devendrajit Sharma; and MUC Registrar Laishram Radhakanta as functional presidents.

Speaking at the function, Prof Paonam Gunindro highlighted that though Manipur University of Culture lacks proper infrastructure compared to other universities, it has achieved notable success in performance and academics, being placed second among universities in the country.

He emphasized that the university plays a significant role in promoting theatre, dance, culture, and related fields at both national and international levels.

Prof Gunindro also informed that MUC is representing India at an International Festival in Hungary, expressing hope that the effort would bring fruitful recognition to the university.

He further expressed confidence that "Nongban Soura", being part of the annual theatre production and academic requirement, would stand out as a remarkable performance.
