RIMS observes Fire Safety Week 2025

Imphal, April 17 2025: The Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal today organized a smoke drill and fire safety demonstration in front of the General OPD Block in observance of Fire Safety Week 2025.The activities were organised as part of the nationwide initiative being held from April 14 to 20, said a press release issued by RIMS, Imphal.

The week aims to promote awareness and preparedness for fire emergencies, particularly in critical environments like healthcare institutions.

The session was led by Waikhom Rona, Sub-Officer, Manipur Fire Service, along with other fire prevention officers, who demonstrated key fire safety protocol.

Participants were guided on the proper use of fire extinguishers, fire suppression techniques, evacuation procedures, and how to remain calm and respond swiftly during a fire emergency.

The program witnessed enthusiastic participation from Professor N Sanjib Singh, Medical Superintendent, Heads of Departments (HODs), faculty members and staff from various departments, units, and sections of RIMS - including the Dental College, College of Nursing, hostels, Administrative Block, Engineering Department, Jubilee Hall - as well as personnel from the Manipur Security Services (MSS) and the Centre for Research on Environment and Development (CRED), RIMS, Imphal.
