Sea Waves Manipur honours

Imphal, January 17 2026:
The literary society "Sea Waves Manipur" felicitated three of its distinguished members for their recent prestigious awards at a ceremony held at Irawat Bhavan, BT Road, Imphal on Saturday.
The honourees are Khangembam Ibeton Devi, Dr Moirangthem Priyobrata Singh, and Nongmaithem Kirankumar Singh, who received the Manipur Sahitya Akademi Award (Translation) 2023, Manipuri Literary Society Novel Award 2025, and Manipur State Kala Akademi Award (Translation) 2024, respectively.
As per a release issued by Sea Waves Manipur, the event was graced by dignitaries, including Ng Iboton Singh, eminent critic & translator; Ph Brajamuhini Devi, president, Sea Waves Manipur; Nahakpam Biren Singh, writer poet; Y Indira Devi, senior member, Sea Waves Manipur; Kartik Maiba, writer & poet; and Prof L Damudor Singh, poet & literary activist.
In his keynote address, Dr Raheijuddin Sheikh, secretary of Sea Waves Manipur, highlighted the group's mission to promote Manipuri literature globally through English-language publications.
Established in 2003, Sea Waves Manipur has published 12 anthologies, including the latest release 'Flicker' (2025).The group plans to release 'Falcon', the 2026 edition, on May 1, 2026 .
As part of the event, a vibrant Poets' Meet was conducted, where 25 poets presented their original works.
These poems have been selected for publication in the upcoming 'Falcon' anthology.
