DC Bishnupur distributes looms, sewing machines and solar lamps to IDPs

Bishnupur, October 16 2025: Deputy Commissioner of Bishnupur, Pooja Elangbam today distributed sewing machines, looms and solar lamps to Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs at an event held at Leimaram Mayai Leikai Community Hall.

The programme was organized by the 08 Battalion CRPF under the aegis of M&N sector, Civic Action Programme.

A total of 110 IDP beneficiaries staying in relief camps of Leimaram SC Girls Hostel, Waroiching and Leimaram Govt HS received the looms, sewing machines and solar lamps.

Addressing the gathering, DC Pooja Elangbam urged the beneficiaries to utilize the looms and sewing machines to generate income and improve their family's livelihood.

She encouraged the production of quality cloths that can be marketed effectively emphasizing selfreliance and entrepreneurship.

She also urged the students to use the solar lamps for their studies and assured them of the District Administration's unwavering support.

Pooja Elangbam expressed gratitude to the CRPF for such initiative and support describing the collaboration as a significant step towards aiding the DPs She assured that such support would continue through further joint efforts.

Commandant of 08 Bn CRPF Chandra Shekhar reiterated the CRPF's commitment to community welfare stating that this initiative is just the beginning with more similar activities planned for the future.

Security Officers from CRPF and locals also attended the programme including the IDPs .
