WMC Tripura felicitates meritorious students, achievers

Jiribam, August 16 2026: The World Meetei Council (WMC), Tripura State Unit, organised a felicitation programme for meritorious Manipuri students and achievers in various fields at the Sukanta Academy auditorium in Tripura.

The event was attended Yelam Birjit as chief guest, while retired Colonel T Gokul Chandra Singh attended as guest of honour.

Social activist Mayengbam Mrinal Kanti Singha and Manipuri Sahitya Parishad president L Birmangal Singha were present as special guests.

The programme, chaired by WMC Tripura State Unit president H Bankim Singha, commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the chief guest, followed by the National Anthem.

The presidium members were also honoured with Lengyan by WMC Tripura State Unit president H Bankim Singha, while the WMC Tripura president was honoured by general secretary Amit.

Several achievers from different fields were felicitated with awards and citations in recognition of their contributions.

Kshetrimayum Ruhin Singha received the Lifetime Achievement Award, while Adhikarimayum Ranjit Sharma and Kh Anima Singha were conferred the Cultural Excellence Award.

Mutum Gournitya, Akham Rishav and Kanusree Singh received Special Recognition Awards for their achievements.

Meritorious students who secured outstanding marks in the Class X and XII examinations were also felicitated with cash prizes and Lengyan in recognition of their academic excellence.
