Imphal, July 16 2025:
There is no likelihood of Prime Minister Narendra Modi paying a visit to strife-torn Manipur before the monsoon session of Parliament which will begin from July 21, according to well-placed sources .
Reliable sources had previously said that the Prime Minister would possibly visit the State before the monsoon session.
They had indicated that he was likely to bring a tentative resolution to the Manipur crisis, enforce free movement along the National Highways, inaugurate and announce key projects during his trip.
It was also believed that the Governor's administration under President's Rule would be brought to an end with the installation of a popular Government during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's theorized visit.
However, in stark contrast to these expectations, the Centre is preparing to extend President's Rule in Manipur.
Under such circumstances, it is unlikely that a popular Government will be formed in the State in the near future, said the sources.
