Imphal, April 16 2026: Dr Chongtham Jamini, the first Chairperson of the Manipur State Commission for Women (MSCW), passed away yesterday around 9 pm.

During her tenure as MSCW Chairperson, she authored several notable works, including Voice of Women (Volumes I-VI), a Monograph on the Three Tribes of Manipur etc.

The MSCW has expressed deep condolences following her passing.

In a statement, the Commission said the MSCW organised many programmes like legal awareness, seminars, workshops etc during her tenure as the Chairperson.

A press release issued by MSCW Chairperson Th Tiningpham Monsang announced that a two-minute silence was observed in her honor during a condolence meeting.
