Dictionary of Flowering Plants of Manipur Volume 1 released

Thoubal, September 15 2026: A book titled 'Dictionary of Flowering Plants of Manipur Volume I' authored by Professor Hanjabam Manoranjan Sharma, Principal of Waikhom Mani Girls' College, Thoubal Okram and Professor Anoubam Radhapyari Devi was released today.

The book release function was held in the college organised by the Research Forum of the college.

The book has information of various flowering plants found in Manipur and their multiple benefits.

Today's programme was graced by Dhanamanjuri University (DMU) Vice-Chancellor Professor W Chandbabu Singh as the chief guest; Teachers' Association Waikhom Mani Girls' College president Waikhom Sobhapati Devi as the president and AYUSH Director Dr Akoijam Lokendro Singh as the guest of honour.

Addressing the gathering, Professor W Chandbabu Singh expressed belief that the book released today will benefit the present and future generation of Manipur as it will enhance their knowledge of various flowering plants found in the State.

He also appealed to the authors to include the pictures of the flowering plants in the next edition.

Amid the growing concern that many people are unaware even about the names of plants found in the State, the VC of DMU maintained that the publication of books on the details of these plants will help in overcoming such ignorance.

It may be noted that the two authors assured that the second volume of the book will be published soon.
