Senapati joins Watershed Yatra Outreach Campaign

Senapati District joined the nationwide Watershed Yatra Outreach Campaign on Friday at Kathikho Village Local Ground, Senapati.
The event marked a significant step towards the conservation of soil and water in the region and the district.
The campaign is being carried out under the Watershed Development Component of Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana -PMKSY 2.0.The programme was graced by Mamoni Doley, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Senapati, along with other distinguished dignitaries including PP Ronald MCS, Project Director, DRDA, Senapati; William Maram, Project Officer, DRDA, Senapati and S Pangniba, Executive Engineer, DRDA, Senapati.
The event witnessed active participation from various watershed communities of Katomei Makeng, Maram Makha Sagei, Emefiithumai and Willong Khullen, making it a collective effort for the Watershed Yatra Campaign.
During the event, the Deputy Commissioner of Senapati, Mamoni Doley, IAS administered the Watershed pledge and encouraged the participants to take an active role in spreading the crucial message of water conservation, which has now become a global concern.
She also stressed on the importance of individual and collective effort to manage sustainable water resources.
In his speech, PP Ronald, MCS, Project Director, DRDA, Senapati emphasized the importance of protecting the rich biodiversity that Senapati is blessed with.
He also highlighted the need for collaboration for the sustainable management of soil and water from every individual.
He stressed that the task of safeguarding these precious resources must be a shared responsibility, involving every citizen of the district for a sustainable future.
As part of the ongoing Watershed Yatra Campaign, horticultural tree saplings were distributed to project villages followed by a watershed march.
Participants were also engaged in tree plantation activities at the venue, reinforcing the commitment to protecting soil and water in the district.
