DC Kangpokpi flags off Road Safety Awareness rally

Kangpokpi, January 15 2026: As part of the National Road Safety Month 2026, the Deputy Commissioner of Kangpokpi, Mahesh Chaudhari flagged off a Road Safety Awareness Rally from the DC Mini Secretariat Complex, Kangpokpi.

The month-long observance is being organised under the theme "Sadak Suraksha Jeevan Raksha".

Speaking on the occasion, the District Transport Officer (DTO) Md Wahidur Rahaman emphasized the importance of Collective responsibility in ensuring road safety and urged all to strictly adhere to traffic rules to prevent accidents and save lives.

He informed that the Transport Department has scheduled a series of awareness and enforcement activities across the district during the Road Safety Month.

These activities include awareness programmes in schools and colleges to educate students on traffic rules, pedestrian safety, and responsible road behaviour.

Special interventions planned during the period include zero fatality solution - intervention in high risk zones; safe system workshop-training for engineers and stakeholders; stakeholder engagement - organising training, eye check-ups camps and advocacy initiatives, among others.

The flag-off ceremony was attended by N Shokhongam Baite, ADM; Len Singsit, SDO Island; Md Hefajuddin, SDO Bungte Chiru & Kangchup Geljang; DTO, SDOs, DLOs, among others.
