Imphal, October 14 2026: The Lions Club of Imphal Global, in association with the Lions Clubs of Imphal Ningol Collective, Imphal Leimarol and Imphal Chanura, and in collaboration with the Disaster Risk Reduction Club and Disaster Management Cell of Manipur Technical University, distributed 60 white canes to students of Government Ideal Blind School, Takyelpat.

The distribution was attended by PDG Lion Th Kesho Singh, several Lions leaders, and faculty and staff of Manipur Technical University.

Following the distribution, the Department of Social Welfare organised a white cane awareness rally from the Kangla Western Gate to the Social Welfare Office, North AOC.

The rally drew around 90 students from the DRR Club and 10 faculty members from the Disaster Management Cell of Manipur Technical University, more than 100 volunteers, 20 Lions members from all four clubs, and students of the blind school.

Kosygin Leishangthem, coordinator of the DMC-MTU, highlighted the lack of educational literature and called for greater inclusion of visually impaired people in disaster management policy.
