Imphal, September 13 2025:
Members of the Manipur Pradesh Youth Congress Committee who tried to march towards Kangla to present a painting depicting the Manipur conflict to Prime Minister Narendra Modi were stopped by the police today.
Led by their president, Wahengbam Ananda, the members of the MPYCC were protesting the Prime Minister's "very late" visit to the State after more than 2 years of the conflict.
They were carrying the painting - which depicts Manipur burning in flame and victims of the violent conflict - to be presented to the Prime Minister.
The youth congress members tried to march from the office of the Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) at BT Road towards Kangla, the venue where the Prime Minister was to address a meeting.
While they were stopped and detained by the police, Wahengbam Ananda said the Prime Minister's visit was not to resolve the conflict.
The PM has no love for the people of the State and he doesn't care for the internally displaced persons, he said.
"If his intentions were to sincerely resolve the conflict, the Prime Minister should have invited all political parties, civil society organisations and leaders of all communities to a meeting during his visit," Ananda said.
