Imphal, June 13 2014 : The Passing Out Parade for 569 women personnel of India Reserve Battalion (IRB), who will form the first ever Women IRB Battalion of Manipur, was held at Manipur Police Training Centre (MPTC), Pangei in Imphal West district on Friday.

The 569 women IRB personnel registered their names at MPTC to receive training on May 13 last year.

The training started from May 20.563 women personnel recruited to form 9th IRB and 48 women police constables reported at MPTC for training.

The combined Passing Out Parade for 569 women personnal�539 IRB personnel and 30 women constables - was held on Friday.

However, 24 women personnel of 9th IRB were not present at the Passing Out Parade due to personal problems such as pregnancy and illnesses.

Other 25 women police constables who missed the passing Out Parade will take oath at the MPTC Quarter Guard on May 27 .

Participating in the Passing Out Parade as chief guest, Home Minister Gaikhangam said though MPTC has no proper infrastructure like other States do, with relentless efforts of the Centre's Director and other officials, proper trainings are given to newly recruited security personnel.

The newly recruited 569 women IRB personnel will form the first ever Women IRB Battalion in the State, he said.

Gaikhangam, who is also the Deputy Chief Minister, further said the women IRB personnel have pledged to execute their duty well and sacrifice in the service of the people.

"Hope they will fulfill the pledge," he added.

The Home Minister added that the role of Manipuri women in the society is so great that they take more responsibility than their male counterparts while it comes to promotion of culture, economy and domestic affairs.

Manipuri women have stronger will power, patience and sacrificial spirit while comparing to other women in the country, Gaikhangam asserted.

Gaikhangam, however, said the State has witnessed unbroken crimes against women and declared that those who are unleashing violence against women are enemy of the society.

"I'm sure these women security personnel will immensely help in fighting crimes against women and rooting out evils from the society," he said.

The Home Minister also urged the newly established Women IRB Battalion not to be choosy when the Police Department allocates their postings and appealed to them to execute their duty well.

DGP of Manipur Sahid Ahmad, Director of MPTC P Doungel, IFC Minister I Hemochandra, MLA Ng Bijoy and other top police and civil officials were also present at the event.

On the occasion, medals were also presented to eight personnel of 9th IRB in recognition of their outstanding performances during the training.
