Thoubal, September 12 2024: The body of Meraimayum Imtiyaz Khan (21) has been claimed from JNIMS morgue today.

Following this, the funeral rites of the deceased were also performed today.

Notably, Meraimayum Imtiyaz Khan's lifeless body was found floating in Thoubal River recently.

According to a statement issued by Md Mujibur Rahaman, convenor, Joint Action Committee (JAC) against the brutal killing of Meraimayum Imtiyaz Khan, the JAC agreed to claim the dead body in view of the current restive situation in the State after detailed discussion with the local MLA, public and the JAC members.

Previously, the JAC had refused to claim Meraimayum Imtiyaz Khan's body until justice was delivered to the victim.

Nevertheless, the JAC has asserted that it will make concerted efforts to ensure that justice is delivered with the help of CSOs and the public.
