Imphal, August 12 2026:
As part of its month-long 'Disturbance-Free Educational Zone Demand' campaign, the Coordinating Committee on Disturbance-Free Educational Zone Demand on Wednesday organised awareness programmes at five schools in Imphal West and Kakching districts.
The campaign was conducted at Ratankumar Memorial School, Imphal Valley Academy, Mekola Gulap Higher Secondary School and Praja Higher Secondary School in Imphal West, and at Grace Cottage Academy in Kakching district.
Speaking during the campaign, DESAM secretary general Thoudam Shyamjai said the State's education system has deteriorated due to the Government's failure to give proper attention.
He stressed that appointing persons from the teaching community as Director of Education, Additional Director, Joint Director, DDE, ZEO and DI will help restore the true image of education in the State.
He further demanded the revival of the Manipur Education Service, which was started in 2014 .
He also appealed to stop the sale of intoxicants and junk food around school premises, stating that these are causing serious problems for students.
As part of the campaign, students staged demonstrations in front of their school gates raising slogans demanding a Disturbance Free Educational Zone.
