Achievers, meritorious students felicitated

Imphal, July 12 2026: Multiple felicitation programmes were held in Imphal on Sunday to honour students who excelled in HSLC, Higher Secondary and CBSE examinations, along with achievers from various fields.

Organised by the Okram Shagai Apokpa Trust (Thoubal Taba) at Manipur Press Club, the event recognised toppers and distinguished personalities to encourage youth.

Imphal West ZEO Zone-1 Yumnam Hemchandra attended as chief guest, Dr L Dinachandra, former Director of Manipur Science and Technology Council as guest of honour, and Dr Okram Kumar, former Principal of DM College of Commerce as president.

Awards were given to the Best Sportsperson, Old Okram Ningol and Piba, 30 meritorious students, and registered women vendors of Ima Keithel-Khwairamband Keithel.

Okram Nikhil Singh, Mr International India (2025-26) was also honoured.

Hemchandra lauded the Trust for motivating students and honouring elders.

Meanwhile, United Social Amateur Club (USAC), Kakwa Lilando Lampak felicitated meritorious students at its community hall under the theme "Education is not preparation for life.

Education is life itself'.

USAC vice president Kh Hitler said the event aimed to inspire students to excel and contribute to society.

In another event, Universal Mother's Organisation (UMO), Lamphel, felicitated four recipients of the Honorary Doctorate Brand Award conferred by the World Human Rights Protection Organisation.

The awardees honoured at UMO's office are Dr Salam Memcha Leima, Dr Laishram Aruna, Dr Naorem Jiban and Dr Moirangthem Sorojini Leima.

UMO members said the four have been working for human rights for many years and the award was given in recognition of their contribution to the field.

The Association for the Promotion of Meritorious Students of Chingmeirong (APMSCI).

Imphal, also held the 34th Annual Prize Distribution Function at Sinam Shyama Devi Town Hall, Chingmeirong.

Chief guest Dr (Prof) GS Moirangthem, Director Emeritus of Karkinos Manipur Cancer Care Institute & Research Centre, assured financial support to underprivileged students.

Wangkhei AC MLA Thangjam Arun Kumar and Sanjenbam Silomi, Managing Director, SS Career Solution, also attended.

A total of 55 meritorious students and 2 sportspersons received cash prizes, while 3 eminent personalities from Chingmeirong were felicitated.
