Waqf Amendment Act 2025: Protests staged

Imphal, April 12 2025:
A protest rally cum sit-in protest was staged today at Triangular Village Ground, Kiyamgei condemning the passing of the Waqf Amendment Bill 2025 in the parliament.
According to a press release issued by Jamit-Ul-Ulama, Keirao AC, three villages came together to partake in the protest rally cum sit-in protest.
The press release pointed out that Waqf properties can neither be sold or taken away forcefully but they can be used to generate income.
It termed the passing of the controversial Bill as an attempt by the Home Minister and Prime Minister to enforce a single religion in the country and compared it to idle daydreaming.
Jamit-Ul-Ulama further said that intense agitations will continue until the Act is officially repealed.
Today, the protestors shouted slogans such as "Withdraw the Waqf Amendment Act 2025" .
Additionally, the Manipur State Council, Communist Party of India (MSC/CPI) organised a protest meeting against the Waqf Amendment Act 2025 at Irabot Bhavan, Imphal today.
State secretary L Thoiren, party leader L Iboyaima and Dr Baddaruddin were present as presidium members.
