3-day training programme on IPM for Sustainable Agriculture begins at KVK Bishnupur

In a concerted effort to enhance agricultural productivity and promote sustainable farming practices among farmers of Bishnupur district, the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Utlou, Bishnupur organised a three-day training programme on "Integrated Pest Management (IPM) for Sustainable Agriculture" at its campus today.
The programme sponsored by the NEH Component, ICAR-NRUPM, New Delhi, saw the active participation of 40 farmers from across the district The inaugural junction of training programme was graced by District Officer, Horticulture & Soil Conservation, Bishnupur, S Sushila Chanu as chief guest; former Union Minister and former Deputy CM of Manipur, Padmashree awardee Th Chaoba Singh as functional president and Senior Scientist & Head of KVK, Bishnupur, Dr Kh Brajamani Meetei; and Subject Matter Specialist (SMS) Horticulture, KVK Bishnupur, Dr Bijaya Devi; as guests of honour.
Speaking at the occasion, Thounaojam Chaoba Singh emphasized that such training programmes are vital in promoting organic production practices and increase the productivity of farmers - thereby strengthening the agricultural economy of both the State and the country.
Subject Matter Specialist Dr P Bijaya highlighted the importance of such training sessions, stating that they are designed to help farmers improve crop yields and adopt eco-friendly pest management techniques.
She further said that as part of the programme, winter crop seeds and pump sets will also be distributed to participating farmers on the closing day of the programme.
Expressing optimism, Dr Bijaya further stated that the initiative will empower Bishnupur farmers with sustainable techniques that enhance both productivity and profitability.
In the technical session, various subject experts from KVK and CAU delivered insightful talks to the trainees on the topics of IPM, soil management, and Rabi crop cultivation.
