CM Ibobi gives a piece of advice on bandh culture

Senapati, January 11 2014 : Making it first among the hill districts of the State to have an own functional court, Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh today inaugurated the District Court and Sessions Judge located just above the new mini-secretariat in Senapati district headquarters here.

Speaking on the occasion, Ibobi said that blockade and bandh culture is detrimental to implementation of developmental works and it should be shun. "Bandh and blockade have affected the State especially the masses in remote areas, the government is ready to talk and hear grievances", Ibobi said, while appealing to the people of the district to abstain from calling bandh and blockade, and assured that the State Government will go extra miles to implement projects and development works.

Referring to the memorandums submitted by Karong Senapati Town Committee and the Vegetable Vendor Women Association, Ibobi confidently stated that the necessary action would be initiated within a month to fulfil the demands of the Town Committee.

In its memorandum, the Town Committee had requested for re-organization of the infrastructure including 10 MVA transformer, dismantling of poor quality works at Karong Sports complex, water reservoir and super market at DHQ.

The Chief Minister also assured to provide 10 MVA against the 1x5 MVA transformer installed at Karong power sub-station.

Ibohal, Justice N.Kotiswar, Judge Manipur High Court along with local MLAs Dr.V.Alexander and L.Dikho and Deputy Commissioner P.K Jha were also present in the programme.

Along with inauguration of the new court a monolith was unveiled to mark the occasion.

The new court has been established temporarily at the old PWD Office before the actual construction work on a separate court begins.

Ibobi expressed happiness over the inauguration and opined that it will deliver justice to the people and less burden to Judiciary and Police departments.

Among others who spoke on the occasion, Chief Justice Laxmi Kant observed that with inauguration of the District Court and Session Judge, Senapati has become the first hill districts of the State to have an own functional court.

He went on to say that for strengthening the judiciary system and ensures its benefits to the people, subordinate courts and infrastructures have been proposed in every district; however, financial position has to improve to fulfill the desired outcome.

Works Minister Ratan Kumar announced the proposal to establish State Judicial Academy and provide better infrastructure to the Judicial Departments.

During the programme, Miss Sochoiphy, winner of the Senapati District Students Association (SDSA) Voice Hunt enthralled the crowd and Shajouba youths presented an energetic Mao cultural dance.

Dignitaries including judicial heads/officials, ADC members, DLOs, PWD officials and Senapati District Bar Association members also attended the event.

Chief Minister Ibobi last visited Senapati district in November, 2011 when the then Union Home Minister P.Chidambaram inaugurated the new mini-secretariat and the 50 bedded district hospital.
