MALA condemns

Manipur Library Association (MALA) has strongly condemned the act of vandalism perpetrated by unidentified miscreants at State Central Library, Imphal around 8 am of November 7, 2025 .
Demanding a detailed investigation into the incident, MALA has urged the relevant State authority to arrest the perpetrators and award them suitable punishment.
According to a press release issued by Yumnam Tiken Singh, general secretary, MALA, the miscreants entered the State Central Library and caused damage to office properties including almirahs and official documents in different rooms of the library.
Saying that people have not yet forgotten or forgiven the torching of the State Central Library in 2005, MALA added that this incident should be condemned by all.
The library was recently renovated under an initiative of the National Mission on Libraries to transform it into a model library and has seen an increased number of visitors.
MALA expressed grief over the act of vandalism at this juncture.
It further urged people from all sections of society to take an active role in safeguarding and developing libraries.
