Rewind Manipur Film Fest to witness screening of six digitized 4k resolution films

Imphal, October 09 2026:
The Department of Mass Communication, Manipur University, and Manipur University Students' Union (MUSU) launched "Rewind Manipur Film Festival 2026" at the university's auditorium today.
Six digitised 4k resolution films will be screened during the 3-day festival.
The films to be screened include Olangthagee Wangamadasu, Meichak, Sanakeithel, Chatledo Eidi, Matamgi Manipur and Brojendragee Luhongba.
Lok Sabha MP Dr Angomcha Bimol Akoijam, Head of Department of Mass Communication Dr Nongmaithem Rohinkanta, Students' Welfare Dean Prof Ch Ibohal, Film Forum Manipur chairman Mangoljao Samjetsabam and MUSU president Laishram Sanathoi attended the launch event.
Speaking on the occasion, MP Dr Angomcha Bimol Akoijam said cinema is a strong visual and audio medium used to teach social science.
It can be seen as a bridge linking individuals with society and tradition.
It can also be treated as a bridge linking human thought with structural pressure of society, Bimol said.
He also underscored the importance of promoting and enhancing recording and archiving.
