Junior Chamber International (JCI) Imphal Iconics on Thursday distributed reusable water bottles to students at a relief camp and at the Thangmeiband Kendra Development Organisation (TAKDO) coaching centre, both located at Khuyathong, as part of its ongoing humanitarian service project.
The distribution was held at the Community Hall near Khuyathong Puthri Achouba.
Thangmeiband AC MLA Khumukcham Joykishan attended the event along with JCI Imphal Iconics president Jhupaikar, secretary Suman Jain, project chairperson Lata Jain, and treasurer Sheetal Jain.
Speaking at the event, Joykishan lauded JCI Imphal Iconics for its consistent service since its inception in Manipur.
He noted the organisation's work including distribution of wheelchairs to persons with disabilities, hearing aids, sanitary napkins, construction of public toilets at MG Avenue, and free health and eye camps with medicines and spectacles.
He added that during the COVID-19 pandemic, JCI provided food assistance, and during the recent crisis in Manipur, it visited relief camps to distribute clothes, books, pens and other essentials for children.
Sheetal Jain said the water bottles were provided to help students carry safe drinking water to school.
She reaffirmed the organisation's commitment to continue community service in Manipur.
