BJP-ST Morcha Tengnoupal raises alarm over alleged deductions from IDP assistance funds

Tengnoupal, December 07 2025: The BJP-ST Morcha, Tengnoupal, has expressed serious concerns over circulating reports and rumours suggesting that internally displaced person (IDP) beneficiaries in the district may be facing unofficial deductions from financial assistance meant for the renovation of their homes.

Although these claims remain unverified, the Morcha stated that the concerns raised by the public are genuine and must be addressed with urgency and sensitivity.

In a press release issued on Sunday, the Morcha urged all officials and staff involved in IDP-related work to uphold integrity, honesty and complete transparency, ensuring that no beneficiary is subjected to unfair practices during this crucial period.

The release further highlighted the grievances of many IDP families regarding irregularities in the distribution of their monthly allowances -both cash and kind.

Despite being essential for their sustenance, these allowances reportedly have not reached many beneficiaries in a timely or consistent manner.

Calling the allowances "lifelines" for families rebuilding their lives, the ST Morcha cautioned against any form of deduction, delay or obstruction.

Exploiting or neglecting displaced families, it noted, would be deeply unjust and contrary to the purpose of rehabilitation.

Amid continued concerns stemming from recent violence, the organisation appealed to all stakeholders -government bodies, community leaders, civil society groups and citizens -to ensure that IDP families receive their rightful support without hindrance.

Restoring trust and stability within the affected communities, it said, depends on timely and unhampered aid delivery.

Reaffirming its commitment, the Morcha stated that it will stand firmly with every displaced family, listen to their concerns and advocate for their rights.

It pledged to collaborate closely with relevant authorities to ensure justice, transparency and consistent support for all IDPs .
