Senapati, August 07 2025:
Three buffaloes were electrocuted after they came in contact with a live HT wire at Koide Biisho.
The incident occurred at around 1 pm today at the Vouzhe hill range.
The buffaloes belonged to Vouzhe Cattle Rearing Group (Vouzhe Hakho Me) .
The incident came to light when a youth who was tending cattle heard an unusual sound made by the herd and found three of them electrocuted.
Most of the herd suffered electric shock.
The HT wire was hanging low over the ground.
The death of the cattle has caused a huge loss to poor farmers who depend on the cattle for income.
Villagers said one of the buffaloes which was about 6 years weighed around 350 Kg and was estimated to cost around Rs 1 lakh when alive.
The two other buffaloes were relatively young and weighed around 250 Kg and 100 Kg.
They may cost around Rs 75000 and Rs 30000 respectively, said the villagers.
Villagers said that the incident happened due to the negligence of the Electricity Department.
Live wires are hanging low just over the ground and many poles are about to fall.
The live wires hanging very low poses a threat to both humans and animals.
The Department must take appropriate actions, they added.
