Imphal, October 06 2024: A sit-in protest was staged today at Samurou demanding justice for Bashanti and Lanchenbi, the mother and daughter duo who were found dead under mysterious circumstances recently.

The sit-in was participated by a large number of women from Haoreibi, Shamurou, Wangoi, Yumnam Huidrom, Mayang Imphal and Singjamei Bheigyabati Leikai.

Ningombam Bashanti (40) and her 7-year-old daughter, Lanchenbi were found dead inside their home on September 23 .

The postmortem of the bodies has been conducted at RIMS, however, the bodies will not be claimed until the clues and truth about their death is known, said the Joint Action Committee in a release.

The JAC also demanded swift investigation to ascertain the true nature of the deaths and urged the Chief Minister to convert his promises into action at the earliest.
